G-ISA, Graduate International Student Association

Accessibility

Effective date: July 12, 2026

G-ISA exists to make Northwestern feel like home for every graduate student, and that includes this website. We want everyone to be able to read, navigate, and use this site, whatever tools they browse with.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

What we have done

  • Text and background colors meet AA contrast requirements
  • Every page can be navigated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator
  • A "skip to main content" link is the first element on every page
  • All images have descriptive alternative text
  • Headings follow a logical order on every page
  • Forms have visible labels and clear error messages
  • Animations are subtle and are disabled for visitors who prefer reduced motion
  • The site works at 200% zoom and on small screens

Known limitations

Our mailing list signup uses a Google Form, and some resources link to outside websites. We cannot control the accessibility of those pages, but the essential information on this site is available without them, and you can always join the list by emailing us instead.

Tell us if something is broken

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, email us at gisa@u.northwestern.edu and we will fix it or get you the information another way.
